LEARN ABOUT US

Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.

Paul Harris, Rotary Founder

Paul Harris was the visionary Chicago lawyer who wanted to bring like-minded professionals in all walks of life together in the spirit of friendship for the purpose of doing good in their communities.   Meetings were held in the group members’ offices on a rotating basis.  The name “Rotary” seemed a good fit for the club.
More than a century later, Rotary International remains true to its grassroots origins with 1.2 million members addressing challenges in their own countries and around the world.  Members provide humanitarian service locally and abroad, adhere to ethical standards in all vocations and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotarians strive to live Rotary’s official motto: “Service Above Self”.

Rotary Toronto West is a member of Rotary International and part of District 7070.  Chartered in 1955, RTW began as an offshoot of the Rotary Club of Etobicoke, and the two clubs remain supportive of each other’s activities to this day. Rotary Toronto West members meet weekly at Montgomery’s Inn, a historic museum in Etobicoke, located in the western part of the Greater Toronto Area.  RTW also sponsors junior Rotary groups: 2 Interact Clubs at local highschools, and 1 Rotaract Club at York University.  We support projects based in Etobicoke, the Greater Toronto Area, and internationally.  Within our club, as throughout the Rotary world, race, nationality, gender, religion and politics are not part of the criteria for membership.

The atmosphere of our meetings and events is friendly and fun, and newcomers are always welcome to explore what we have to offer.  We enjoy having visitors and guests join us on Thursday mornings at Montgomery’s Inn. Check our calendar and come out to hear one of our interesting speakers.  Our members are friendly and would love to meet you.

Rotarians are always guided by The Four-Way Test:

First

Is it the truth?

Second

Is it fair to all concerned?

Third

Will it build good will and better friendships?

Fourth

Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
